I work at a computer for many hours each day. As a result I have frequent neck and shoulder stiffness and pain. I was skeptical of Rolfing at first, but after a few sessions I really feel better than I have in years!
I work at a computer for many hours each day. As a result I have frequent neck and shoulder stiffness and pain. I’ve had massage and chiropractic work work for years to help manage the pain as well as chronic headache pain. When I talked to Joseph at first I was a little skeptical and a little fearful because I’d heard Rolfing was painful! During my first session I was very surprised. It wasn’t painful at all or uncomfortable in anyway. Joseph took the time to explain what he was doing and why he was doing it. While the session was going on it almost felt like nothing was happening but when I got off the table at the end I really felt better! After a couple of more sessions I’ve noticed the feeling of balance stays with me long after the session is over and it feels like my body is starting to heal itself. I now have more energy and a lot less pain. I’m looking forward to the rest of my sessions!

Rolfing came to me as a last-ditch effort on a ten year path of recovery from a bicycle accident. My body had become unrecognizable to me, deformed, in pain and far from the athlete I use to be.
Rolfing came to me as a last-ditch effort on a ten year path of recovery from a bicycle accident. My body had become unrecognizable to me, deformed, in pain and far from the athlete I use to be. Suffering from chronic pain, depression and the loss of an active life style I had tried most all other forms of treatment and refused to be bound to pills and surgeries that treated and relieved only the symptoms of an injury that had affected my whole body. Through the skillful hands of my Rolfer, my body responded so well to treatment that today I am mountain biking, hiking and considering returning to rock climbing. Being forty something, having the energy and fitness to reclaim lost activities and venture out into new ones is possible because of Rolfing.

Mostly what I want to say is WOW, and THANK YOU !! I was feeling so stiff and sore, in the mornings especially. And now I am so used to getting out of bed without the “stiff-and-sore-all-over” feeling that I’ve forgotten all about it!!
Mostly what I want to say is WOW, and THANK YOU !! I was feeling so stiff and sore, in the mornings especially. And now I am so used to getting out of bed without the “stiff-and-sore-all-over” feeling that I’ve forgotten all about it!! My general level of flexibility is so improved that I do things I was accustomed to and again I don’t even remember that bending, squatting, and twisting used to be limited and difficult. Before trying Rolfing I had been to many types of chiropractors and message therapists and got only temporary relief. I had a fair amount of limited motion in my neck that I had learned to live with for 25 years or more which only the Rolfing has relieved. I was almost resigned to the idea that being generally stiff and sore was just a part of turning 50. But giving in is not part of my nature, which is why I decided to try the Rolfing. I had always heard it was dreadfully painful and that may be why I put it off in the past. But I want to go on record saying that it is the exact opposite of painful. Actually, it was so gentle I was baffled that it achieved such dramatic results. I guess I was mentally programmed to think that if my body wasn’t being twisted and cracked that nothing was happening. To be honest I’m still baffled as to how it works, but man-o-man DOES IT WORK !! I am back to doing the things I live for like telemark skiing in the back country, mountain biking, hiking, and all the outdoor stuff I’ve always done. When I trek up some of the peaks in Rocky Mountain National Park on skis and see mostly people in their 20′s and 30′s I feel that I may be setting an example for them that they can expect to be doing these activities as long as they wish. Possibly it will contribute to “reprogramming” their thought processes so they will have a natural expectation that good health can be maintained and the joys that go with it can be achieved throughout our life cycle.
I sincerely want to thank you, Dr. Joe, for helping to reopen this door to good health and active living. I am still “amped-up” about it after 6 months and am telling everyone I know who is feeling physically limited. We truly don’t have to compromise as we age. Together, we can maintain high-gear during our life’s journey on this earth. Again, thank you !!

I went to Rolfing with a persistent left leg pain. I had tried Chiropractic and Acupuncture and needed something more. Even after just one session I felt a general well being. I really responded to Joseph’s gentle approach. I had heard Rolfing could be painful, but this was really relaxing.
I went to Rolfing with a persistent left leg pain. I had tried Chiropractic and Acupuncture and needed something more. Even after just one session I felt a general well being. I really responded to Joseph’s gentle approach. I had heard Rolfing could be painful, but this was really relaxing. Joseph worked with me on my walk and posture and the Rolfing sessions seemed to reinforce my muscle exercises. I completed the 10 series and had much more energy and a lot less leg pain. I definitely would recommend Joseph and Rolfing Structural Integration as a great way to feel connected and more open to allow whole body healing.

Before being Rolfed, my muscles felt very tight, and it seemed that no matter how much resting, icing, heat application, or stretching I did, they just always felt tight. (Massage and PT would provide some temporary relief, but nothing seemed to last.) My movement was restricted, and my balance and stability were compromised.
Consequently, even though I’ve been very physically active for most of my life, it got to where I did not enjoy many types of exercise anymore, because either it hurt to move or I was afraid I would injure myself.
The biggest benefit of Rolfing for me was being able to stretch without pain and to actually enjoy and look forward to stretching again. I now have greater range of motion; I’m able to do the pigeon stretch in yoga; I have greater stability doing many Pilates movements; I’m able to do Zumba, Hip Hop, and Step Aerobics again without hurting myself. I can jog without feeling as though I’m pulling my hamstring, and my balance and stability are greatly improved — nearly back to normal, in fact. So the greatest benefit is that I’m able to move without pain and without the fear that I will inflict new pain on myself, and I am ENJOYING exercising again.
