Rolfing® Structural Integration sessions
Sessions are individualized for each client while maintaining consistency with the Rolfing® Ten Series designed by Dr. Ida P. Rolf. The duration of each session varies from 60 – 90 minutes. In addition to hands-on Rolfing palpations, sessions include mobility assessments, movement education activities, and recommendations for clients to improve the quality of their movements in the workplace and at home.
Half-hour consultation meetings are also available for those of you who are interested in Rolfing but would like a one-on-one meeting to discuss this process in person. Consultation meetings also include a thorough review of a client’s medical history, more detailed explanation of how Rolfing can help a client meet their structural goals and an opportunity for questions and answers.
CranioSacral Therapy (CST)
Clients have the option to request CST only sessions if that is the only modality they wish to receive. As a practice, I prefer to integrate CST within the regular Rolfing sessions. Same rates apply. For more information about CST go to (www.upledger.com).
Visceral Manipulation Therapy (VM)
Visceral Manipulation Therapy is an additional bodywork technique I have been learning at the Barral Institute. This involves working on the fascia in and around the bodies organs. Often restrictions in a visceral organ have a direct influence on joint restrictions throughout the body. Freeing up these deep internal restrictions allows me as a Rolfer to complete structural integration goals much more efficiently. I also offer hour-long VM sessions but similar to CST above prefer as a practice to integrate these techniques into normal Rolfing sessions, see rates below. For more information about VM go to (www.barralinstitute.com).
Rolfing® Structural Integration Sessions for Children
Sessions for children (ages infant – 12 years old) involve shorter sessions lasting between 45 – 60 minutes. These sessions are also non-formulaic in that the Rolfing® Ten Series is not an appropriate method of meeting young people’s structural needs. I will work closely with parents and child to identify the goals for each session. Rolfing® Structural Integration has been shown to be effective in addressing structural abnormalities stemming from traumatic childbirth experiences as well as conditions following accidents or sports-related injuries.
